The Town of GoldenChief Administrative Officer (CAO) The Town of Golden is seeking a dynamic Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to lead our experienced team and guide our community's growth from small-town charm to a vibrant, mid-sized destination. As a trusted partner to the Mayor and Council, the CAO will help shape Golden?s future by fostering sustainable service delivery, organizational development, and community building.We are looking for an experienced, creative leader with a proven track record in public sector management, particularly in municipal operations. The ideal candidate is a visionary, with expertise in policy development, organizational leadership, and human resource growth. You?ll need to be adept at guiding large-scale, strategic change while avoiding micro-management. Your leadership will inspire our team, enhancing the interplay between council, staff, and the community to create a unified vision for Golden.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Vision: Develop and implement operational plans aligned with the Town?s strategic priorities. Policy Leadership: Recommend and oversee policies that are innovative, accountable, and fiscally responsible. Team Leadership: Mentor and support a talented team as we manage growing complexity. Community Engagement: Strengthen relationships across the organization and with the public, ensuring values are reflected in all interactions. Governance & Operations: Oversee resources to ensure effective service delivery aligned with our strategic priorities.QualificationsEducation & Experience: A degree or diploma in a related field, plus a minimum of 5 years in senior civic management. Experience in community development, strategic planning, and governance is essential. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire staff, with expertise in motivation, performance evaluation, and systems thinking. Legislative Knowledge: A deep understanding of key legislative frameworks, including the Community Charter and Local Government Act. Communication & Judgment: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive situations and make sound judgments. Cultural Agility: A strong understanding of First Nations issues and the reconciliation process. The ability to work respectfully, knowledgeably and effectively with Indigenous people. Experience with the Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People UNDRIP) is and asset. Security Screening: Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act check, and/or enhanced security checks as required.CompensationWe provide a competitive compensation package that includes a strong base salary in the range of $160,000-$185,000 and excellent benefits.
