Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work site environment: Industrial/commercial (general). Business. Work setting: Urban area. Tasks: Prepare sales or other contracts. Promote sales to existing clients. Read blueprints to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements. Identify and solicit potential clients. Assess client's needs and resources to recommend the appropriate goods or services. Develop reports and proposals to illustrate benefits from use of good or service. Deliver sales presentations. Estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties and delivery dates. Provide input into product design where goods or services must be tailored to suit client's needs. Consult with clients after sale to provide ongoing support. Train customers' staff in the operation and maintenance of equipment. Provide clients with presentations on the benefits and uses of goods or services. Resolve product and service related problems. Troubleshoot problems related to equipment. Supervise activities of other technical sales specialists. Estimate costs of installing and maintaining equipment or service.
