About the PositionThis position is responsible for ensuring the safety of ADM's facilities with respect to employee health, safety and compliance. Peer relationships include the plant manager, plant superintendent, quality control and food safety manager, production supervisors, and all plant staff. This position is subject to strict deadlines due to the reporting required by internal and external managers. Careful attention to detail is required, even when faced with multiple tasks that need to be completed within 24 hours. This position is under the direct responsibility of the HSE Director and under the functional responsibility of the Plant ManagerDuties and ResponsibilitiesConstantly striving to achieve the goal of "Zero is possible" through employee engagement, leading by example, and thinking about innovationEnsure that the working environment is always safe by applying company standards, ensuring that unsafe behaviours and conditions are corrected and followed up on during regular inspectionsParticipate in accident and incident investigations and follow up on corrective actions resulting from these investigationsChampioning near-miss reportingHave a working knowledge of provincial and federal lawsHave a strong foundation in joint health and safety committeesWork collaboratively with the HSE Area Manager for the implementation and application of all ADM principles related to health, safety and environmentProvide mandatory training to all managers, co-workers and contractors on how to implement these programsEnsure that the site always complies with all regulations, policies and guidelines of ADM, the CNESST, and the provincial and federal governmentsDevelop, implement and maintain programs, records and reports related to health and safety, as well as compliance with laws and the environmentCommunicate with management on a daily basis on issues related to facility safety, food safety and environmentOversee audits of clients, third parties and regulators in their respective areas of responsibilityBe accountable in ensuring that the institution achieves passing marks by maintaining consistent accessibility to the audit
