Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Estimating. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Prepare master format estimates (Class A). Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Utilize quantity take-off procedures. Monitor and adjust contract expenditures. Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors. Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Computer and technology knowledge: Estimating packages. Take-off packages. Scheduling packages. Spreadsheet. MS Excel. MS Word. Type of experience: Architecture. Commercial and/or industrial construction. Structural engineering. Project size estimating experience: 0 - $100,000. $1,500,001 - $4,000,000. $4,000,001 - $8,000,000. $100,001 - $500,000. $500,001 - $1,500,000. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation.
