The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for directing, coordinating and supervising all activities for the Logistics and Shipping and Receiving departments.
1.0 *NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION*
As the Logistics Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of operations within our organization, with a specific focus on training, leading, and managing a team of skilled forklift drivers. Your leadership will be crucial in guaranteeing that all internal material movements are executed precisely, supporting continuous production processes and ensuring timely deliveries to our customers.
In this logistics-centric role, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing forklift operations, with a strong emphasis on training your team to adhere to safety protocols and industry best practices. You will also manage warehouse space utilization and coordinate maintenance schedules for forklifts to minimize downtime and enhance overall operational efficiency.
Collaboration with internal departments such as Production, Tooling, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Quality will be essential in synchronizing logistics operations and maintaining a reliable supply chain. Additionally, you will engage with external stakeholders, including suppliers, subcontractors, and customers, to ensure all logistics activities are aligned and executed according to plan.
Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing operational schedules, directly coordinating and mentoring your team of forklift drivers, and effectively managing Shop Floor Logistics. This position demands proactive leadership, ensuring that all logistics tasks are completed with accuracy and within set deadlines. The decisions you make will have a direct impact on the department?s efficiency, influencing both immediate operations and long-term logistics strategies.
2.0 *QUALIFICATIONS*
*Education:*
· Post-secondary education in a related field such as Materials Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Engineering is preferred and considered an asset.
*Knowledge and Skills:*
· Comprehensive understanding of production scheduling, shipping procedures, and materials management.
· Familiarity with health and safety regulations, as well as knowledge of tooling, production processes, and quality standards (IATF16949 and ISO Standards).
· Proficiency in MRP and SAP systems, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suites, particularly Excel.
· Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
· Proven leadership skills to effectively motivate, train, and supervise a team of forklift operators.
· In-depth knowledge of forklift operations, including the ability to train and develop operators in advanced forklift techniques.
*Communication Skills:*
· Excellent verbal communication skills are essential for effective interaction with production teams, forklift operators, suppliers, customers, and the Director of Logistics.
· Strong written communication skills are necessary for creating reports and handling technical and business correspondence.
*Experience:*
· A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role with supervisory responsibilities, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.
· Extensive experience with both Propane and Electric (EV) Forklifts, as well as various types of forklifts, including rotators, articulators, and forklifts ranging from 10 to 15 tons.
3.0 *RESPONSIBILITIES*
* *Shipment Coordination: *Ensure all customer and supplier shipments meet the specified requirements, maintaining timeliness and accuracy.
* *Team Supervision:* Lead and supervise a team of Forklift Operators across three shifts, providing guidance, training, and input on hiring, compensation, discipline, and performance evaluations to maintain high standards of safety, productivity, and work quality.
