Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Remote location. Room and board provided. Staff accommodation provided. Tasks: Address customers' complaints or concerns. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles). CPR Certificate. Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR) Certificate. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Driver's License (Class 3 or D). First Aid Certificate. Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Hydrovac. Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles). Surface mining dump, off-highway. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel experience: Local. Provincial/territorial. Regional. Short-haul. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel for extended periods.
