DISTRICT OF SAANICHENGINEERINGPUBLIC WORKSMANAGER OF WATERWORKSPermanent Full Time PositionThe District of Saanich is seeking an experienced operational Manager to lead its Waterworks Section of the Public Works Division. Waterworks ensures the delivery of the potable water supply to District customers through well maintained assets including over 550 kilometers of pipes, and several reservoirs, pump stations and pressure reducing valve stations. The Manager of Waterworks is responsible for leading a diverse team of unionized operators and staff in delivering maintenance and operational plans; deploying multiple construction crews for capital construction and development servicing; and overseeing the District?s SCADA system and meter reading services. The Manager is accountable for providing expert technical advice and the provision of effective leadership in operations and occupational health and safety. The District operates a Level 3 potable water distribution system and this role is responsible for ensuring that the field operations meet the requirements for the District?s Operating Permit. The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge and extensive field experience in the functionality of municipal pressurized piped systems including the engineering principles behind their operation; thorough knowledge and understanding of the legislation/regulations governing potable water systems; and the ability to apply this background in leading teams in the field. The Manager is a dynamic individual that can think quickly and creatively in emergencies while maintaining their demeanour, has exceptional interpersonal skills, detailed oriented, organized and is a positive leader who develops teamwork and collaboration between operational sections and engineering design teams. They are committed to lifelong learning and organizational excellence and are a valued member of the Public Works Management Team. Requirements include a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field; registration as an AScT with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC); minimum six (6) years of progressive managerial or supervisory experience in the field of potable water systems management, maintenance and construction; possess of a valid B.C. Class 5 Driver?s Licence; and a personal vehicle available for use as and when required. ECOP Level 3 (or higher) certification is considered an asset. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The annual salary range for this exempt position is between $115,745 - $136,125 with an excellent benefits package. Role profile and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
