Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best.<p><p> <p>We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional<p> to join our team as:<p>Locksmith (Term)<p>Facilities Maintenance Department<p> <p><p> <p>Position Status: Full-time Term<p>Expected End Date: September 30, 2025<p>Work Year: Works 12 months per year<p>Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, Eight (8) consecutive hours between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm, excluding an unpaid meal period of up to one hour; 40 hours per week<p>Salary range: $35.31 to $36.54 per hour ($73,439 to $75,998 per year)<p> <p><p>Under the direction of the Team Lead or designate, the Locksmith is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing all locks, building hardware and related equipment at Board sites; ensuring work is performed in a safe and effective manner; complying with Board and legislative standards and codes; ensuring Board vehicles, equipment and tools are properly maintained; performing other related duties to ensure that properties, facilities, and equipment are properly maintained.<p><p><p> <p> <p> <p> <p> Qualifications<p> <p> <p> <p><p><p><p> <p> Knowledge of and continual upgrading of relevant codes and legislation (Acts and Regulations), new materials, equipment, products, methods and procedures. <p> <p> <p> Interpersonal and communication skills required to liaise with co-workers, principals, plant supervisors, and other Board personnel regarding the installation of locks and building hardware at Board sites, to discuss/explain problems and schedule repairs.<p> <p> <p> Initiative and judgement for making decisions on the type of repair and locks/material required.<p> <p> <p> Organization skills to prioritize work orders and to reschedule activities to deal with emergency calls.<p> <p> <p> Ability to write (such as work order sheets, daily logs). <p> <p> <p> Ability to calculate formulae for keying locks and material costing. <p> <p> <p> Ability to use a variety of tools such as drill, screwdriver, electric hole saw, reciprocating, skill, mitre and hack saw, hammer, wrench, pick set, file, specialty pliers, key cutting machine, and capping block. <p> <p> <p> Ability to use electronic mail system and computer maintenance management system and to work with minimal supervision.<p> <p> <p> This knowledge would normally be obtained through completion of a secondary school diploma, a trade certification in Locksmithing and 5 years experience, which includes at least 3 years in industrial and commercial maintenance. Must be bonded. Valid class 'G' driver?s license, or equivalent.
