Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Outdoors. Underground. Dusty. Work setting: Various locations. Parking lot. Civil (road and bridge construction, etc.). Tasks: Load, unload and transport construction materials. Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades. Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt. Help medical examiner in charge. Level earth to fine grade specifications. Pave and rake asphalt. Clean and pile salvaged materials. Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants. Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites. Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction. Direct traffic at or near construction sites. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Clean and maintain sidewalks, streets, roads and public grounds. Assist skilled tradespersons. Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas. Equipment and machinery experience: Circular saws. Drills. Construction specialization: Industrial, commercial and institutional. Roads and bridges. Sidewalks and curbs. Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Tight deadlines. Manual dexterity. Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) . Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition. Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees . Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees . Support for Indigenous people: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers . Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations . Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers .
