Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Marine transportation, other. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. In/on water. Cold/refrigerated. Hot. Wet/damp. Tasks: Command and operate ships or vessels to transport passengers and cargo. Ensure safety and comfort of passengers. Determine geographical position using navigational instruments, maps and charts. Maintain vessel's navigational instruments and equipment. Control, steer and navigate a vessel in various waterways. Record vessel's progress, weather and sea conditions in ship's log. Equipment and machinery experience: Small boat. Vessel experience: Passenger ship. Area of specialization: Small boat navigation. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Medical exam. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Attention to detail. Personal suitability: Initiative. Organized. Reliability. Team player.
