Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Appliance installation and repair technology/technician. Work site environment: Hot. Cold/refrigerated. Outdoors. Work setting: On-site customer service. Residential. Commercial. Various locations. Tasks: Install and overhaul heating systems. Install refrigeration systems. Install ventilation, air handling and air conditioning systems. Troubleshoot ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components. Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment. Provide customer service. Start up system and test for leaks using testing devices. Perform maintenance such as, recharging system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators or calibrating system. Interpret gas codes. Handle, recover and store refrigerants. Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems. Test and replace defective equipment or components. Repair and service gas appliances and related equipment. Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Gas Fitter Certificate - Level 2 or B. Gas Fitter Certificate - Level 3 or C. Gas Fitter Trade Certification. Type of service and repair: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Types of systems: Air conditioning system. Control systems: Computerized monitoring. Electrical devices. On-board diagnostics. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems: Rooftop (self-contained).
