Convertus Group is Canada?s largest and most advanced operator, processing more than 500,000 tonnes of waste annually. From coast to coast, we operate 13 sites to produce over 200,000 tonnes of finished compost and over 80,000 GJ of Renewable Natural Gas. This is the equivalent to taking 15,000 cars off the road or avoiding 28 million litres of gasoline being consumed. *Your Mission:*
As our Financial Controller, you will take charge of managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, consolidation, and compliance for our New North American entities. You will oversee the operating P&L, Balance Sheet, and Projects, ensuring accuracy and integrity in all financial matters. This role is key to driving our financial success and strategic planning.
*Here?s what an ordinary day of work might look like:*
* Completing consolidation of Group results, ensuring accuracy, and eliminating related party transactions to present a clear financial picture.
* Issue financial statements and management reports, showcasing our financial health and performance.
* Prepare and consolidate annual budgets and forecast updates, contributing to both operating and capital expenditure budgets with precision.
* Take charge of managing large to small capital budgets for Construction Projects, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
* Liaise with external accounting firms for annual audit requirements and completion of annual tax returns, including tax planning activities to optimize our tax position.
* Review and approve the bi-weekly payroll process, and support bi-weekly payment runs, ensuring accurate and timely payments, including remittances for various taxes and pensions.
* Assist in the preparation of cost books for large capital projects, comparing against budget and providing regular updates to the management team.
* Provide ad hoc reporting and support to the Finance Director, CFO, and leadership team, contributing to informed decision-making and strategic planning.
*This job is for you if you:*
* Hold a bachelor?s degree in accounting or a related field.
* Have a CPA or CA designation.
* Bring 5+ years of experience in a formal accounting environment.
* Have leadership experience, especially in financial positions.
* Are proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
* Have a strong eye for detail and accuracy.
* Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal correspondence.
* Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Have availability to travel when required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $91,000.00-$114,000.00 per year
