Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the plant and ensuring the smooth operation. Working with cross functional teams this role is critical to the support of existing and new customer initiatives including product trials, product refurbishment and new launches as well as supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
*What you will be doing:*
* Provide hands-on leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility. This includes collaborating with cross-functional team members to ensure customer expectations are met.
* Ensure key plant performance metrics are achieved including quality, food safety, waste, downtime, attainment and health & safety.
* Review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
* Monitor operation expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality.
* Work closely with the Health and Safety Team to ensure all members of the production team are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees.
* Develop and execute the plant manufacturing budgets.
* Analyze workforce requirements and support the coordination of hiring and training of all production team members.
* Lead and manage Business Unit Manager team, providing coaching and development.
* Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
* Support, identify, encourage and participate in continuous improvement opportunities.
* Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.
* Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity.
* Communicate with research and development as well as product management personnel to develop new product strategies.
* Work with Supply Chain team to improve production scheduling, materials management and supplier relationships.
* Develop team and individual employee skills and performance through the effective use of on-going coaching and cross training
* Model, foster and drive Tradition values including Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
* Perform other tasks as may be assigned
*What will make you successful:*
* 7+ years progressive experience in a key leadership/management role at a manufacturing facility.
* Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.
* Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.
* Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, etc. to drive improvement.
