Key ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Technical Specialist is accountable for architecture support, development, design, selection, standardization and configuration of various technologies with a focus on IP service development and support. The primary function of this role will be to develop a roadmap in the form of 1 to 3 year plans for a variety of network components, and lead the consolidation/integration of these services and networks. The Senior Technical Specialist will provide direction to team members and collaborate with multiple groups. This position is also responsible for providing 3rd level operations support to Field and NOC technicians during a network outage as well as providing technical support to internal project teams that build new networks.Critical QualificationsProvide technical leadership and expertise related to all Manitoba networksLead and/or support alignment activities for both IP services and network configurations within NTSUnderstand and communicate dependencies of different system consolidation activitiesRecommend and prioritize network requirements, champion IP service development in MB, promote integration activities, and drive resiliency to P25, all of which is to be included in the 3 year capital plan which you will developParticipate in architecture reviews and identify, evaluate, and standardize on network technologies to meet marketing and operational requirements while ensuring long term North Star objectives are followedReview and recommend vendor support opportunities with a drive to reduce expenses to the Enhanced Warranty Program (EWP)Provide technical guidance to other departments such as Provisioning, Marketing, Network Operations, Field Operations and Customer CareManage vendor relationships in NTS for network technologies, participate in vendor negotiations and assist in the development of SoWs and contracts with vendorsPrime for vendor discussions on technology reviews, product demonstrations and information sessionsPrime the development of complex lifecycle plans for new and existing network technologies.Provide guidance and mentorship to Technical peersPreferred QualificationsBachelor degree or diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and related work experienceProfessional Engineering or Technology designation preferred7+ years experience at a telecommunications service provider in the design and implementation of networks and servicesGood level of experience in network architecture, design, consulting, implementation, documentation, operations and supportStrong understanding of provisioning workflows including customer/network configurationsKnowledge of IP routing, IP Transport and wireless technologies including ethernet microwave radioKnowledge of customer networks including MTS MPLS, LAN Services, DIA, IPVPN, EI, P25, Wireless RAN servicesStrong understanding of TecNet and inventory databasesGood communication skills both written and oralAbility to work well with others in a team environment#EmployeeReferralProgramAdequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
