Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our growing team in Fort Erie, ON. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with customs regulations and facilitating smooth cross-border transactions for our clients. This position offers an excellent opportunity for career growth in the dynamic field of international trade.
Responsibilities:
* Perform accurate and timely data entry of customs information into our customs entry system, ensuring all details are correctly captured and processed.
* Review customs documentation, including commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and other import documents for accuracy and completeness
* Maintain strict adherence to CBSA standards and regulations for all customs entries and documentation
* Thoroughly examine commercial invoices, manifests, packing lists, and other supporting documents to verify accuracy and completeness.
* Obtain required customs documentation, such as CUSMA certificates or commercial invoices, by contacting vendors or clients when necessary.
* Diligently follow up on pending document requests to ensure timely receipt of all required paperwork for customs clearance.
* Promptly respond to and address client inquiries received through various communication channels, including phone, email, and fax.
* Collaborate with and support team members, during periods of high volume or when dealing with complex customs cases
* Contribute to maintaining an efficient workflow by cooperating with colleagues and adapting to changing priorities as needed.
* Take on additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by management
Qualifications:
* Minimum 1-2 years of experience in customs rating, preferably in a brokerage or consulting environment (preferred, not required)
* Proficiency in customs software and Microsoft Office suite
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
