We are seeking a <strong>Senior Staff Tax/Accountant for our Compilation Division</strong>, who is a qualified CPA, and experienced in Canadian Public Accounting to join our growing team.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Independently prepare personal and corporate tax returns.</li><li>Strong understanding in Canadian taxation:</li></ul><p>Compliance execution and identification of issues, such as: </p><p>a) "Safe income" calculations on each share class and determining appropriate allocation of dividends between holdcos, trusts, individuals - it is a complicated analysis whereby you cannot pay high dividends to holdcos anymore. It has to be in proportion to its share of the "safe income".</p><p>b) Inbound loans between cross-boarder connected companies.</p><p>c) Specified Business Income and Specified Corporate income - identifying issues and planning around this, including where and how to report it.</p><p>d) Transfer pricing assessment and reporting.</p><p>e) SRED</p><p>f) Corporate attribution rules where a spouse and/or minor kids are part of the ownership structure.</p><p>g) TOSI as it relates to passive rental income - very complicated area.</p><p>h) Passive investment income and SBD claw back - analysis and planning - where and how to report it on the T2.</p><p>i) Analysis of different share classes and their attributes - implications for reorg planning</p><p>j) Association Rules - identify issues within our corporate groups - ensuring appropriate s.9 reporting; impacted by more than previously by TOSI.</p><p>k) T1134, T1135, T106 and all other foreign reporting issues and filings </p><p> </p><ul><li>Maintaining client files in a paperless methodology.</li><li>Independently research tax issues and collaborate with the team to determine solutions, including correspondence with CRA.</li><li>Independently work directly with clients.</li><li>Effectively manage multiple projects and regularly monitor deadline budgets.</li><li>Identify value-added services while working on engagements.</li></ul><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Soft Skills</strong></p><ul><li>Highly organized and detail oriented.</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.</li><li>Superior customer service, with the ability to understand the clients' business and needs.</li><li>Ability to work both independently with little supervision and within a team environment.</li><li>Drive to grow skills through ongoing research and professional education.</li><li>Ability to foster and maintain strong client relationships.</li><li>Strong accounting background including knowledge of relevant accounting frameworks and file documentation best practices.</li><li>Strong technical skills in CaseWare, QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Tax Prep, Excel and Word.</li></ul><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Other Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a Canadian Public Accounting practice.</li><li>Strong verbal and written language skills.</li></ul><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Application Information:</strong></p><p>We thank all applicants for their interest, however only those selec
