This position, which reports to the Chief Operating Engineer, is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the plant s Boilers and related equipment. The Boiler House is classified as a 1st Class Plant and operates 24 hrs per day, 365 days per year. Normal hours of work will be 8 hour day shift M-F when on maintenance and to cover vacations and this will require working on a rotating 12 hour shift basis with days being 07:00 to 19:00 and nights being 19:00 to 07:00. Shift schedules may change on a frequent basis as required by the businessThe position requires a conscientious person in the areas of operational procedures, quality control & testing, good manufacturing practices (GMP), reporting, safety, personal appearance, cleanliness & housekeeping. The area of responsibility includes the boiler operation which includes:water treatment; five water tube boilers complete with economizers;three diesel generators, 2.25 MW each steam distribution systems and condensate collection systems; compressed air system which includes air compressors, air dryers and receivers; andall fire protection systems including the main plant fire panels, north property fire panel, the diesel fire pump house and all sprinkler standpipes, fire extinguishers, fire hoses as well as the emergency generator system. In addition, this position is responsible for administering first aid for all personnel on site. This position is also responsible for answering their phone for after-hours communications and emergency purposes.Specific Position Accountabilities When on Maintenance:Perform PM maintenance and minor repairs in the Power House.Assist the Shift Engineer during Plant process upset conditionsResponsible for administering first aid to injured workers as required as well as completing and distributing first aid reports to worker's supervisors in a timely manner. In the case of a medical aid when direct supervision is not on site, the worker's supervisor must be informed immediately and the appropriate paperwork must be completed and promptly forwarded to the appropriate supervisor. Accurately record readings for all major utility meters.Weekly testing and inspection of emergency shower and eyewash stationsWeekly testing of diesel fire pumps and sprinkler checksMonthly inspection of fire extinguishers and fire hosesMonthly inspection of spill kits Check operations of Geka boiler and ammonia compressors by communicating with EOF supervision and recording all information in the EOF Engineer s Log Book. Maintain good manufacturing practices (GMP) at all times. Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the boiler room, and the diesel fire pump house. Comply with all Bunge Canada Corporate policies including Safe Work Practices, Emergency Measures Plan, and the Occupational Health and safety Act of Ontario. Maintain safety standards in all areas of work. Attend and participate in training as required by Bunge.Complete any other task required to run a safe and efficient operation as requested by the Company. When on ShiftProducing steam, instrument air, plant air and emergency power in quality and quantity on demand as required by production processes, while achieving or exceeding company quality, environmental and operating cost standards. Continually monitor operations via DeltaV computer and take action as required.Compliance with Work Instruction - Operational Procedures, the latest version of the Technical Standards and Safety Act of Ontario and any other authorities having jurisdiction. Maintain all fire systems in proper and safe working order. Perform and document water tests (e.g. Boiler feed water, condensate and sodium water softener & dealkalizer water hardness). Blow down all air receivers, oil separators and air compressors minimum once per shift. Quickly responding to high conductivity condensate alarms to identify the source of the problem and to take appropriate measures to ensure boilers and equipment are not
