Mount Carmel Spirituality Centre near Stony Plain, Alberta (to be opened July 16, 2024) is a place of prayer, meditation, contemplation and learning in the middle of nature surrounded by beautiful mountains, lush green trees, a natural habitat of flora and fauna, open fields and farms. The property features new retreat facilities including guest rooms, meeting spaces and places of worship. Owned and Operated by the Canadian Carmelite Charitable Society (CCCS), retreats and spiritual guidance are undertaken by Discalced Carmelite Order, OCD.
The retreat facilities are seeking to hire a full time Hospitality Operations Manager.
The role of the Hospitality Operations Manager is to oversee the daily operations of the Mount Carmel Spirituality Centre, ensuring efficient operations management and supervision; working with the Priests to provide strategic direction to the operations and monitoring financial performance towards CCCS established objectives. This is a working management position. Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Ensuring that the approved Guest experiences are met and maintained by all departments (rooms, meeting facilities, food service) and enhanced where necessary.
· Preparing for CCCS authorization, with input from the Priests, an Annual Operating Plan, Sales and Marketing Plan, Capital Improvements Plan, and Monthly Operating Budget.
· Maximizing profitability through implementing approved program changes, increasing revenues, and controlling payroll and other operating costs.
· Establishing and implementing Operating Policies & Procedures, including enforcing where necessary, and facilitate change as directed from CCCS, as required.
· Organizing and initiating the recruitment of Management, Supervisory, and Front-Line Team positions, where appropriate, and perform necessary orientation according to approved parameters.
· Ensuring MCSC operates in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
· Representing MCSC and its employees within the community in a positive manner.
The successful candidate will have an established professional history working in the Hospitality Industry, with experience leading a team of customer service professionals. Strong MS Office skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point, as well as a strong knowledge of hospitality software applications, are necessary for this position. In addition, the successful candidate must have a strong understanding of the Roman Catholic faith and a sincere willingness to support the spiritual work of the Priests and the Spirituality Centre.
