*The Role:*
You are a financial accounting authority with management experience. You have strong performance management and mentor experience, and the ability to be adaptable. You will be responsible for leading all aspects of the month, quarterly and year end closes for a sizeable portfolio of multi-family properties and will have a team of professionals reporting to you. You will also take on exciting projects and initiatives to continuously improve processes and procedures.
*What you?ll get to do:*
* Lead, guide, and mentor an engaged and motivated Property Accounting team through a spectrum of pivotal financial activities encompassing daily operations, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting activities.
* Ensure oversight including the review and enhancement of financial reporting, guaranteeing its completeness, accuracy, and prompt delivery to both internal departments and esteemed external clients efficiently and flawlessly.
* Coordinate the annual budget and forecast procedures, collaborating closely with various stakeholders such as Operations, third-party clients, and other key entities to align financial strategies and objectives.
* Coordinate year-end and audit/review/compilation engagements with external auditors/accountants
* Ensure Companies' financial wellbeing by consolidating and analyzing financial data, preparing special reports, maintaining internal controls and other best practices, and reporting activity to internal and external customers.
* Continuous evaluation of existing practices, proactively identifying areas for enhancement and spearheading recommendations for process optimization, ensuring operational efficiency
* Lead with special projects - innovative solutions and strategic initiatives that further elevate the financial skills and operational excellence within the organization.
*Who you are:*
* 5+ years of experience in Financial Accounting in roles growing in responsibility
* 2+ years minimum experience managing a team of 3 of more accounting professionals
* Strong leadership and mentor abilities
* CPA Designation and Bachelors Degree in Finance or relevant field
* Knowledge of Generally Applied Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred
* Experience at a Public company is an asset
* 3+ years of IFRS experience.
* YARDI 7.0 ERP knowledge preferred
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
