Job Summary:
The primary focus of the Receiver is to support the company by examining goods received into MacMor Industries Ltd. and ensuring all goods received are correct and in good order, and to place them into their assigned bin locations in the warehouse in a clean and conscientious manner. This position will also assist the Shipping department when necessary.
Duties:
* Receive, unpack, and examine goods and verify shipments received against packing slips, invoices, bills of lading, or other records.
* Examine incoming shipments to detect defects and sort items according to extent of defect.
* Attach hold tags to damaged goods and place in hold area awaiting disposition.
* Complete entries into the Receiving Supplier Non-Conformance (RSNC) Log as required, providing information regarding damages, shortages, and other errors.
* Complete required nonconformance or corrective action forms and other reports.
* Route goods received to various departments and place stock on shelves.
* Create receipts in the computer system and keep paper records of goods received.
* Direct material handlers and other workers in the Receiving department.
* Assist the Warehouse Manager with other warehouse related tasks as needed.
* Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
* Assist the Shipping department when necessary.
* May be required to perform other job-related activities as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
* Able to operate various forklifts, previous experience an asset.
* Able to work under pressure to meet production needs at peak times.
* Proficient oral and written English communication skills.
* Must be able to take instructions from manager.
* Must be able to communicate well to work within a team.
* Experience working in a physically demanding environment an asset.
* Safety boots are required for this position. Must be able to lift up to 23kg (50lbs) several times throughout the day.
* Good organizational and planning skills.
* Proficient at problem solving and troubleshooting.
* Attention to detail.
* Ability to plan, multitask, and manage time effectively.
* Motivation, drive and demonstrates personal initiative.
* Always follows company policies and standard operating procedures.
* Always presents a professional image.
Preferred Education and Experience:
* High School Diploma or GED (General Education).
* 2+ years of related work experience in a warehouse environment.
* Intermediate computer knowledge (Windows operating systems, Microsoft, email, internet, etc.).
* Written and verbal communication, math, reading, and spelling skills
