Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year. Work setting: School or educational institution/establishment. Tasks: Translate sign language to a spoken language and vice versa. Interpret language for individuals and small groups. Identify the terminology used in a field of activity. Maintain the content, context and style of the original material. Translate a variety of written material. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Membership in a provincial association for sign language interpreters. Technical experience: Interpretation/guiding. Interpretation specialization: American Sign Language (ASL). Security and safety: Criminal record check. Screening questions: Are you available for the advertised start date?.
