We envision a bright future in Coquitlam that we hope includes you!About You / What We Are Looking ForDue to an internal promotion, the City of Coquitlam is currently seeking our next Cultural Services Manager to spearhead arts, cultural and heritage programs and initiatives within our vibrant community. Reporting to the Director Parks, Recreation, Culture and Facilities, the Cultural Services Manager will be responsible for the implementation of the City?s Arts, Culture, and Heritage Strategic Plan. This will involve overseeing the work of a small staff team, and providing strategic leadership, management, planning and direction for the City?s arts, culture and heritage programming, exhibitions and initiatives. Specific examples include the City?s Streetscape Enhancement Program, Public Art Program, Visual Arts, Display Program and the Riverview Artifacts Collection. In addition, this position will liaise closely with user groups, community organizations, the public, and the City?s cultural partners including Evergreen Cultural Centre, Coquitlam Heritage Society, Place des Arts, and the Coquitlam Public Library. This position will be peer to four Community Recreation Managers, providing support to ensure the smooth and exceptional delivery of arts, culture and heritage programs, special events and projects in alignment with our existing recreational and leisure service offerings. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Develop and monitor annual business plans for Culture Services. Prepare operating and capital budgets as needed; administer/monitor the approved budgets including authorization of expenditures; prepare variance reports on a trimesterly basis and take corrective action as required. Supervise a staff of unionized and contract workers with responsibility for the recruitment, selection, training, evaluation and discipline of all staff. Prepare and assist in the preparation of reports and recommendations for Council; take action on direction from Council. Attend Council meetings, and other public meetings and events as required; make presentations and provide advice as required. Act as staff lead on the Cultural Services Advisory Committee. Act as a municipal resource for community arts and cultural programs; liaise with user groups, community organizations, and the general public. Lead and oversee collaboration with community groups to advance arts, culture and heritage in Coquitlam. Exercise independent judgement, action, and initiative in managing and administering comprehensive programs, events and initiatives. Minimum QualificationsSound knowledge of the delivery of community, arts, culture and leisure services and experience working in the fields of arts, culture or heritage; Sound knowledge of and experience in managing large scale community projects, particularly in the arts/culture/heritage sector; Proven ability to build relationships and exemplary interpersonal skills required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders; Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with community groups, advisory boards, and other partner organizations; Excellent demonstrated written and verbal communication skills required to write reports and deliver presentatio
