Through our Employment Readiness Program and our social enterprises, we equip our program participants with the skills, confidence, and support they need to rejoin the workforce and rebuild a self-sustaining livelihood for themselves.
*ABOUT THE JOB*
*Job Summary*
The Business Development Director (BDD) contributes to empowering the life-changing operations of a unique and forward-looking Social Enterprise. Through oversight of functions including sales, business planning, people, and finances, the BDD will continue to deepen the impact that Mission Possible is making in Vancouver?s Downtown Eastside.
*Working Conditions*
The BDD will report to the Deputy Director, and will work closely with other members of the Leadership Team, the Admin Team, and other Mission Possible staff. The incumbent will interact with community partners, volunteers, and program participants. Most work will take place in the Mission Possible office, and require a great deal of multi-tasking, efficiency, and flexibility. Some off-site work may occur, including attending meetings and conferences.
*Key Areas of Accountabilities and Responsibilities:*
*Sales:*
* Drive comprehensive sales and marketing strategies to meet business objectives
* Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with clients, vendors, and stakeholders
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive company growth
* Supervise the Sales Manager and oversee their role as below:
* Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics to ensure targets are met
* Prepare regular reports on business development and sales activities for management review
* Act as a key point of contact for client inquiries, concerns, and feedback
* Work with the Field Service team for Quality Assurance
* Prepare and renew contracts as needed
*Business Planning:*
* Work with the MPE Admin team to ensure efficient scheduling and proactive capacity planning
*Human Resources:*
* Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
* Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and initiatives that align with organizational goals and promote a positive work culture
* Foster strong Staff Retention via routine evaluations such as Compensation Analysis and Staff Experience Survey and conduct follow-up as needed
* Supervise the People and Culture Coordinator and oversee their role as below:
* Recruitment and onboarding processes for both permanent and temporary staff
* Performance evaluation systems and employee development programs
* Employee benefits and payroll administration, including bi-weekly payroll processing
* Health and Safety Program
* Handle employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions when necessary
*Finance*
* Ensure business compliance with GST, EHT, WCB, and other filings
* Develop and implement finance policies, procedures, and initiatives that align with organizational goals.
* Work with the Leadership Team to draft and monitor the Annual Budget
* Maintain and update the Company Pricing Models
* Supervise the Financial Controller and oversee their role as below:
* Provide financial analysis and reports to support decision-making by the Executive Director and Board of Directors
* Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial consultants as required
* Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other financial transactions.
