Transportation Sales Representative
DEFINITION OF ROLE
The primary role of the Transportation Sales Representative is to identify and initiate business
development efforts focused on securing revenue and market share from new and existing
customers to achieve profitable volume growth consistent with sales and marketing plan initiatives.
The incumbent combines knowledge of Highway, LTL, Intermodal, Domestic Canada and U.S. and
all aspects of customer service, transportation industry shipping methods, products and services in
order to meet and exceed customer requirements. Accountability for the agreed to departmental
business plans and strategies, input to the Company?s overall plans and participation in the
continuous improvement process are important elements of the position.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES
? Develop productive long-term customer relationships within targeted industry sectors and
markets
? Consult with customers to determine their unique transportation needs
? Create innovative solutions, drawing on experience and a depth of industry knowledge which
facilitates the ability to advise customers on cost-effective methods and plans to serve their needs
? Identify opportunities for companies to outsource their transportation needs, combining flexibility
and adapting the company's services to solve key customer problems
? Manage customer interactions: prospecting, cold calling, qualifying, making customer calls, and
closing deals
? Focus on selling the core products, modes and services and independently generate new sales
revenue
? Participate in face-to-face meetings, typically partnering with a more senior sales representative
? Work with manager in forecasting, business planning, and strategy
? Solicit new business through phone (inbound & outbound) sales and conduct sales calls with
potential and current customers
? Explain the details of all the Company?s services including: truckload, less than truckload,
intermodal, rail and international to potential customers
? Recommend changes to current customers regarding their transportation needs
? Financial management and account receivables
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
? A proven ability to create profitable customer-focused solutions
? A track record of long-term success in creating business relationships
? Focused on results; aware of the competition and able to create innovative solutions
for present and future customers
? Aggressive in discovering new opportunities for profitable growth
? A consultative approach to selling and customer development and retention
? High School diploma. Post-Secondary Degree preferable.
? Diploma in Logistics, CITT or PLog an asset.
? Possess a minimum of 6 years experience in a 3PL environment.
? CRM usage, TMS & WMS understanding.
? Complete understanding and use of all aspects of the highway and intermodal transportation
industry.
? Positive and proactive team player.
? Proven commitment to providing superior, timely internal and external customer service.
? Superior communications skills

Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and negotiation skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
