CHILDCARE CENTRE MANAGER
*SUMMARY STATEMENT:*
As the Child Care Centre Manager you will assume responsibility for the day to day operation of the Child Care Centre. The Manager is responsible for program planning, working effectively with staff, working with families and children, connecting with the community, mentoring students and administrative responsibilities related to the day to day operation of the Child Care Centre. The Manager is responsible for providing leadership in keeping with the philosophy Goodwin Academy as well as for quality client service to foster student success.

External contacts: Other individuals as required
Coordinator, Children?s Programs Employees of the Child Care Centre
Users of the programs? services (parents, staff, and community), sponsoring agency personnel, general community, Fraser Health?
*MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:*
*Administration*:
* Assist the Coordinator with the development and monitoring of the Child Care Centre?s budget.
* Ensure that adequate records are maintained and compiled for the Coordinator so that they can report to Fraser Health.
* Maintain provincial standards.
* Coordinate the use of the Program as practicum by Early Learning and Child Care students.
* Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.
* Regularly contact, and act as a resource for, parents and caregivers.
* Scheduling and payroll.
* Maintain full capacity of children while maintaining ratios.
*Program Development, Planning and Implementation:*
* Plan, create and implement a program that reflects the philosophy of Goodwin Academy?s Childcare Program.
* Coordinate the programming of the Children?s Program with the Early Learning and Child Care curriculum.
3. Ensure that records are kept on all children in the program.
*Staff Supervision:*
* Manage caregiver resources effectively to ensure that they work as members of a team, have input into planning and have opportunities for improving their professional skills.
* Provide coverage for absent Child Care Givers when required.
* Conduct quarterly staff meetings to support professional development.
* Provide support and direction to caregivers regarding child development.
* Provide feedback and input to the Coordinator for annual appraisals on each caregiver and all other centre employees.
* Assist the Coordinator with the hiring process and make recommendations on staffing.
* To be aware of, administer and comply with personnel policies and collective agreement provisions
*Public Relations:*
* Promote a positive image of the Child Care Program to the public.
* Maintain adequate liaison with the appropriate agencies, professional associations and other child care programs in the city.
* 3. The Supervisor is responsible for liaison with Alberta Child & Family Services Authority, families, care givers, appropriate faculty, sponsoring agencies, etc.
* Be knowledgeable, informed, and current on child care philosophy.
*Goodwin Academy Liaison:*
1. Maintain good relations and liaison with Goodwin Academy departments (i.e. maintenance, community education, Fraser Health, ECE, etc.).
*REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:*
* Formal training in Early Childhood Development
* *1-3 years experience in the child care profession*
* Current Criminal Record Check
* Infant/Child First Aid Certificate
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
* Excellent organizational skills and initiative
* Creative problem solving skills
* Class 4 drivers license
*PERFORMANCE COMPETENCIES AND CRITERIA:*
* Demonstrated ability to set and meet goals evaluated through ongoing and annual supervisory feedback and achievement of business plan objectives and agreed upon professional/personal goals.
