The role is responsible for the entire upkeep and maintenance of the facility. The Maintenance Manager must ensure that maintenance activities of the plant are seamlessly completed. The Maintenance Manager will coordinate the day to day operation of the maintenance department and will be responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all plant equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the plant?s business goals and objectives. The *Maintenance Manager* will also be responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to the plant function in order to optimize line and plant performances. · Manage and supervise a team of maintenance staff to ensure all necessary tasks are handled quickly and efficiently within budget restraints. · Drive employee engagement through effective coaching and development of the maintenance team. · Coordinate all aspects of plant maintenance (including plumbing, electrical, HVAC repairs, carpentry, locksmithing, and painting). · Develop and implement the strategic vision and direction to improve manufacturing reliability and minimize breakdown maintenance. · Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement · Evaluate cost saving opportunities for equipment to increase longevity and reliability. · Conduct regular inspections and ensure proper working conditions of all electrical units and systems in the facility. · Keep a record of all the day-to-day maintenance and service activities undertaken in a facility. · Comply with all corporate policies and the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety rules (CCOHS) while carrying out maintenance functions. · Place orders for spare parts and equipment for replacement and ascertain the proper documentation of the same. · Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform and delegate required maintenance and service. · Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments. · Develop and enhance preventative maintenance program. Perform and delegate regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and company facilities. · Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of company equipment and machines. · Use a variety of hand and power tools, and material handling equipment in performing duties. · Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper management. · Manage maintenance budget. · Other duties as assigned : * High school diploma or Post Secondary Degree * Post secondary training or journeyman ticket in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance. * Experience leading groups of 10 or more * Experience within a union environment is also helpful. * Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, and legislation. * Highly motivated and able to work independently. * Ability to multi-task and establish priorities. * Ability to maintain organization of maintenance schedule and files in a changing environment. * Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership. * Possess a valid driver?s license. * Able to create alternative solutions to problem. * Excellent time management and project management skills. * Able to work well under pressure. * First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.
