PVL is a rapidly growing Manitoba critical service environmental transportation company.
Our focus is on local and regional trucking. We haul waste and recycling materials. You will ensure that waste and recycling materials are transported safely and disposed of at designated landfills. Candidates will be operating self unloading, roll off triaxle trailers as well as flat deck, so previous experience is a bonus. Able to perform physical labor including pushing, pulling, kneeling, twisting, reaching above and below shoulder, standing, stooping, crouching, bending, climbing ladder on trailer and ensure tarp is secure, and occasionally carrying over 50 lbs. Adjusting tire pressures as needed.
This is not just a driving job it is 80% driving and 20% labor. You will be expected to inspect your truck daily and do preventative maintenance as required. Pre and post trips inspections are required. Cab also to be kept clean. No smoking permitted in truck
Minimum 3 years class 1 driving experience.
Drivers are paid hourly starting at $23. Potential to increase depending on performance.
*Candidates should possess the following skills and attributes:*
-Strong backup skills as they are critical to the job as well as the ability to get into tight spaces with a truck and trailer.
-Strong ability to be self-sufficient as you will often be delivering in rural areas or in off-road construction style sites.
-Strong communication and customer service skills.
-Ability to handle mix of driving conditions from muddy delivery sites to Manitoba?s winter driving conditions.
-Good mechanical aptitude to deal with minor onsite problems as they arise such as but not limited to changing a hose, adding fluids or airing up a tire.
-Ability to operate Electronic Log Device WHEN operating regionally outside of city radius.
-Ability to keep equipment in good order and report to dispatch when problems arise.
- Must be punctual for work.
- Deliver on schedule.
- You are responsible for securement of your load. Must ensure loads are secure and safe for transport.
*PVL will provide to successful hires:*
-Paid hourly or by the mile
-Gloves
-Safety boot allowance after 180 days
-Required PPE for deliveries
-Meal/beverage allowance for overnight or longer regional trips
Responsibilities:
* Follow all safety protocols while driving.
* Maintain a valid commercial driver's license (CDL).
* Clean driving abstract
* Clean criminal record check
* Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations while driving.
* Inspect the truck before and after each trip. Report any deficiencies to dispatch. Top up fluids, air up tires, and minor issues that may arise during your shift.
* Complete necessary paperwork for each trip.
* Load and unload cargo safely and efficiently.
* Communicate with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 ? 60 per week
