TEMP - Learning Lead Program Consultant (Indigenous Learning) 0.5 FTE <p>The Learning Lead will function as a part of an interdisciplinary team that supports instruction across the district at all levels. Reporting to the designated Director of Instruction, the Learning Lead will be involved in a wide range of classroom, school and District initiatives that facilitate capacity development throughout the District with a focus on supporting educators to include Indigenous perspectives and worldviews into instructional practices. <p>This position requires travel between schools. <p>This position will: Support the development of professional learning communities that support educators to shift perspectives and deepen understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing and pedagogy; <p> Develop, coordinate and implement classroom, school and District wide professional learning and curriculum/instructional initiatives that centre Indigenous perspectives and create alignment with School Plans, the District Strategic Plan and the Enhancing Student Learning Report; <p> Work independently and as a part of a team to create strategic goals, build and implement work plans and create mechanisms for continuous improvement; <p> Collaborate with educators with an inclusive vision that supports equity, diversity and success for all learners; <p> Support Instructional Services with other duties and initiatives as required. <p> Duties as assigned Knowledge and Ability Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent; <p> Master's degree would be an asset; <p> Exemplary practice with diverse curricular and teaching experience within K-12 that reflects a commitment to the inclusion of Indigenous ways of teaching and learning, as well as innovative instruction and assessment practices; <p> Thorough understanding of colonization and its present day impacts on learning; <p> Demonstrated ability using inclusive learning strategies at a variety of grade levels, including using the principles of universal design for learning in the development of all plans and programs; <p> Thorough knowledge of standard-based assessments; <p> Demonstrated ability to create, communicate & collaborate with the use of digital tools and manage instruction through use of technology; <p> Experience leading professional learning for colleagues; <p> Commitment to equity that supports student engagement and achievement in the classroom; <p> Commitment to systemic change based on an understanding of evolving trends in education; <p> Demonstrated leadership, communication and problem-solving skills; <p> Well-developed interpersonal skills including the demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the system; and <p> Ability to effectively work independently with general direction. <p> Outstanding human relation skills including flexibility, perseverance and creativity. <p> Preference may be given to qualified candidates of Indigenous ancestry.
