*About Us:* The Langham is a dynamic arts & culture organization with 2 public art galleries, a museum, a theatre, and a mixture of artist studios, offices and multipurpose spaces located within our Heritage building. Each year we host a variety of gallery exhibits, theatrical productions, concerts, educational programs, and events that engage audiences of all ages. The Langham Cultural Society?s mission is to support, advocate for and present arts, culture and heritage in Kaslo and the West Kootenay region, centered in The Langham building, Kaslo British Columbia.

*Job Description:* We are seeking a passionate and organized Gallery Curator to join our team. The Curator will be responsible for overseeing the planning, development, artistic direction and execution of our Gallery Program. This individual will work with the Executive Director to ensure that our programs align with our mission and vision while meeting the needs and interests of our diverse audience.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Under the direction of the Executive Director (ED), provide leadership, vision, direction and vitality for all aspects of the Galleries exhibitions and any related special programs.
* Provide artistic vision, research, develop and implement eight annual exhibitions (4 per Gallery).
* Under the guidelines of the BC Arts Council, provide opportunities and support for arts and culture in the region with an open, accountable and neutrally-administered process for selection of artists.
* Assist guest curators, ensuring that the exhibition has integrity and follows the BC Arts Council guidelines and standards.
* Assist the ED in preparing grant applications for future and on-going gallery exhibitions and special projects.
*Specific Duties - Curatorial Administration of Gallery Program *
* Meet with the ED on a regular basis to keep ED informed of gallery needs, activities and other requirements.
* Receive and respond to exhibition proposals on an on-going basis and analyze them through the vetting process for selection.
* Research prospective artists/exhibits for future inclusion in gallery programming.
* Develop and implement the annual exhibition schedule in both galleries.
* Work with the ED & Theatre Manager to coordinate exhibitions which might dovetail with other Langham programs, such as the Japanese Canadian Museum Asian Series, or other theatre programs or special events.
* Receive/collect all information from artists and list of works with retail and wholesale price list.
* Ensure the ED receives the list of works and their market value for insurance purposes in a timely manner.
* Provide curatorial support for exhibitions that includes research and writing for exhibition publications/didactics and information sheets.
* Promote exhibitions: input on the Langham website, update social media, design posters and other advertising materials.
* Organize and host gallery openings and give a public introduction of the artist(s) and their work.
* Submit a monthly written report to the ED, summarizing the curatorial activity at the Langham.
* Keep accurate and up-to-date paperwork, including: artist?s contracts, bookings, and processes.
* Answer public inquiries related to curatorial duties and act as an advocate for the Langham Galleries.
* Network and collaborate with other arts and heritage organizations, visual artists, and guest curators.
