Competition #: <p> # 5 - 2024-2025 <p> Position: <p> Elementary Counselor <p> Description: <p> Counselor <p> Location: <p> JS Clark, GW Carlson, & RL Angus <p> Status: <p> Full Time Term Appointment FTE 1.0 <p> Commencement Date: <p> September 1, 2024, to June 20, 2025 or upon return of incumbent. This position will serve our three in-town elementary schools, approximately 350 students. Scheduling between the schools will be determined in coordination with the three elementary principals; with a requirement to adjust schedules as needed to address emergent issues.A $10 000 hiring incentive will be paid to a successful applicant who meets the criteria for the incentive - please inquire for further details.The starting annual salary for this part time elementary school counselor ranges from $65, 000, to $108,000, with placement on then range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. Qualifications: Valid BC Teaching certificate.<p> Teaching experience.<p> A Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, Educational Psychology, or equivalent.<p> Completion of a supervised counselling practicum. Responsibilities include: <p> Providing direct counselling services to children, as well as individual, group, or family counseling to referred students where appropriate.<p> Working with school administration and classroom teachers to support healthy classroom environments.<p> Working in conjunction with parents, caregivers, and outside agencies for the welfare of children.<p> Attendance at weekly school-based team meetings to support students on their caseload, be aware of priority students in the schools, and serve as a source of expertise on social-emotional supports and student well-being.<p> Case management for students with H and R designations, which includes:<p> Development and updating of student IEP's.<p> Organizing and leading IEP meetings with school staff and families.<p> Reporting on student goals.<p> Coordinating and working in cooperation with classroom teachers, support staff, the school-based team, and parents/caregivers to help students flourish and be successful at school.<p> Helping staff to design and implement specific student plans and interventions.<p> Maintaining an appropriate and confidential system of student records<p> Participate in Behavioural and Digital Threat Assessments/Violence and Threat Assessments as needed Closing Date: <p> Interested applicants should submit a detailed resume, 3 professional references, and copies of counselling practicum evaluation, or the most recent evaluation as a school counsellor by 10:00 am on Monday July 15, 2025, or until a successful candidate is found.
