We are looking for a dynamic, proactive, and experienced team player to join our Purchasing department. The ideal candidate for the Buyer role is a motivated and enthusiastic individual who excels at engaging with suppliers and managing inventory.
Location: London, Ontario
*Key Responsibilities*
* Evaluate P21 Purchase Order Requirement Generation and place orders for consumable parts based on MRP parameters.
* Maintain accurate records of consumables and item maintenance data.
* Ensure continuous communication and follow-up with suppliers and internal customers.
* Adhere to expediting processes, ensuring suppliers meet delivery commitments.
* Resolve supply shortages promptly through substitutions if necessary.
* Prepare, analyze, and respond to inventory and cost report requests.
* Address issues with missing documents, shipments, and deliveries.
* Analyze reports and manage slow-moving inventory by returning items to vendors or finding substitutions.
* Participate in meetings to execute customer forecasts and address inventory issues.
* Communicate inbound and outbound priorities with the Warehouse and Logistics Team.
* Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
* Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
*Qualifications, Skills & Experience*
* 3-5 years of progressive experience in purchasing or supply chain roles.
* Proven track record in achieving inventory management goals.
* Experience in distribution, manufacturing, industrial, or agriculture sectors is beneficial.
* Customer service-oriented with a focus on exceeding client expectations.
* Knowledge of critical packaging commodities (e.g., film, tapes, corrugated, bags, safety supplies).
* Effective influencing and negotiation skills.
* Strong commitment to work and team collaboration.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and familiar with MRP systems; knowledge of P21 is an asset.
* Solid understanding of inventory management and valuation concepts.
* CPP certification from SCMA is a plus.
