Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Electrician. Electrical/electronics equipment installation and repair, general. Work setting: Electronic. Tasks: Install and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices . Install electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, lighting fixtures and other electrical components. Maintain industrial instrumentation and related devices . Replace or repair electrical components. Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance. Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors. Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems. Maintain inventory of stored material. Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices. Interpret electrical code specifications. Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations. Test and check electrical assemblies and wiring for proper connection. Read electrical schematics, blueprints and other technical diagrams. Order and purchase equipment. Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally. Inspect and test electrical equipment and apparatus. Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs. Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Computer-aided design (CAD). Establish operational procedures. Type of service and repair: Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. Inspection or testing specialization: Electrical assemblies, equipment and wiring.
