*Position Summary*
The Food Services Manager is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and directing all aspects of kitchen operations, while maintaining high quality menu options and service levels at all Cornerstone locations with meal plans. The Food Services Manager is expected to schedule kitchen staff, maintain appropriate inventory, and supply levels, create and prepare menu items in an efficient manner. The Food Services Manager is further required to always ensure the safe and healthy preparation of meals and sanitation techniques to avoid cross-contamination and the spoiling of food and beverages.
*Responsibilities*
*Meal Planning & Preparation*
· Work in collaboration with the Food Service Coordinators to develop nutritious and cost-effective meal plans that meet the dietary needs of Service Users.
· Oversee all kitchen operations ensuring healthy and safe work practices.
· Ensures consistent quality across all Cornerstone food programs while respecting differences between programs and residents? preferences.
· Establish, implement, and communicate menu recipe requirements.
· Create and post daily ?Production Sheets? in both kitchens.
· Ensure the safe storage and disposal of food and beverages.
· Maintain accurate log of food and beverage waste.
· Notify management of any repairs or maintenance required for kitchen appliances and equipment.
· Enforces proper sanitation and preparation practices and procedures.
· Ensures that documentation for all areas of responsibility is complete, accurate, reported, effectively communicated, and safely stored according to the organization?s protocols.
*Inventory and Budget Management*
· Oversee inventory of food and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
· Maintain accurate records of food purchases and usage.
· Work within a specified budget, seeking cost effective solutions without compromising quality.
*People and Interpersonal Responsibilities*
· Takes leadership in selection, orientation, training, supervision, mentoring, guidance, and evaluation of employees.
· Produce schedule as per the Collective Agreement.
· Assigns responsibilities and ensures supervision for staff, students and volunteers.
· Build and maintain relationships with members of the community, key individuals, and other organizations.
· Engage with Service Users to understand their dietary needs and preferences.
· Participates as a member of the Management team and actively promotes cooperation, coordination, and synergy of effort.
· Encourages organizational participation in community and national efforts to increase food security.
· Other duties related to the position as assigned.
*Qualifications & Skills*
· Post Secondary diploma in Business Management, Culinary Arts or Hospitality considered an asset.
· Secondary School Diploma required.
· 3-5 years' Management experience in the Hospitality or Restaurant industry preferred.
· Smart Serve certification considered an asset.
· Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a team.
*Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:*
· Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
· Knowledge of cost analysis, fiscal management, and budgeting techniques.
· Good communication skills, both oral and written.
· Good organizational and planning skills to manage competing priorities.
*Work Conditions:*
· Manual dexterity required to operate various kitchen appliances and equipment.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for long extended periods of time.
· Irregular shifts; evenings and weekends may be required.
· Overtime may be required.
