Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts. Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work. Service attachments and working tools. Welding experience. Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. Perform repair work on heavy trucks. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Truck and Transport Mechanic Red Seal Endorsement. Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 3 or D). Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Types of systems: Air conditioning system. Diesel engine repair specialization: Major internal engine repairs or overhaul. Installation and alignment of engines and machinery. Fuel injection system. Engine control system. Lubrication system. Cooling system. Exhaust system. Mechanical maintenance and repair specialization: Power take-offs. Mechanical transmissions. Hydraulic transmissions. Highway vehicle tires and wheels. Drive trains and final drives. Differentials. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Valid driver's licence. Drive manual transmission vehicle. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Hand-eye co-ordination. Attention to detail. Manual dexterity. Standing for extended periods. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Up to 45 kg (100 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Gloves. Personal suitability: Accurate. Dependability.
