Frontier Collegiate is a unique, well-equipped high school with dormitories located in Cranberry Portage, Manitoba. Frontier Collegiate offers a full range of Grade 9 to Grade 12 course offerings for approximately 300 students. Cranberry Portage is a scenic cottage country community of about 1,000 people located 50 km south of Flin Flon. Community services include a gas station, health centre with ambulance service, community recreation centre and arena and regular air service (Flin Flon & The Pas).The main focus of this teacher will be to develop and implement the Hockey Canada Skills Academy for the school. The Hockey Canada Skills Academy is a partnership between Hockey Canada and the school system to support individual hockey skill development and academic achievement. Training components of a hockey academy are in line with the role of the school in other areas; to teach and help the students learn and excel. The outcome is to enhance a hockey student's confidence, individual playing skills, self-esteem and opportunities in both academics and athletics.Qualifications: Bachelor of Education Degree and Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)<p> A sound knowledge of provincial Physical Education curricula<p> Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life<p> Familiarity with the rules of hockey and strong skating background (experience as a player, coach, or referee in organized minor hockey an asset) <p> Intermediate Level Certification in the National Coach Certification Program (NCCP) by Hockey Canada (training provided)<p> Excellent written and oral communication skills <p> Superior leadership skills for dealing with staff and students alike <p> Able to work under pressure and adapt to changing environments <p> Professional, courteous demeanor and strong work ethic and commitment to excellence <p> First Aid & CPR certification Duties & Responsibilities : Preparing and delivering daily practices that focus on individual skill development and team tactics<p> Classroom teaching in a subject area to be determined<p> Creating a practice and game schedule<p> Daily administrative duties for all aspects of the program<p> Meeting regularly with the academic staff to ensure players are keeping up with work<p> Working closely with Campus Recreation Coordinator to ensure dynamic evening and weekend programming for students<p> Annual participation in professional development through the Hockey Canada Skills Academy training program Applicants are required to submit the following: cover letter<p> current resume<p> list of three professional references including email addresses and contact numbers, all of whom must have knowledge of the applicants performance in the applicants current or recent assignment <p>Thank you for your interest; however, only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted. <p>By applying, you consent to the Division contacting your references.
