Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Pharmacy or drugstore. Tasks: Ensure the information on prescriptions is accurate. Enter client information in databases. Help pharmacists. Maintain inventories of medications and pharmaceutical products. Maintain prescription records . Prepare medications for clients. Set up and dismantle equipment. Supervise and direct activities of other medical technologists or technicians. Apply and adjust casts, splints and bandages. Clean and maintain equipment. Help with scheduling and workflow. Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and instrumentation for re-use according to standardized safety practices. Bill third party insurers. Compound oral solutions, ointments and creams. Maintain inventories of medications and prescription records of pharmaceutical products. Interpret physician's specification. Maintain inventory of equipment. Perform general clerical duties. Manage routine office functions including reception, telephone and booking appointments. Order supplies and equipment. Schedule and confirm appointments. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus.
