Located in Calgary, Foundations for the Future Charter Academy (FFCA) is the largest public charter school in Alberta, soon to be serving over 4000 students in eight campuses throughout the city. We offer educational programming through a Distinctive Teaching and Learning Framework developed within the Alberta context for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our mission is to provide a safe and caring environment where the four pillars of our charter: academic excellence, character development, parental involvement, and staff leadership are valued and fostered.FFCA is seeking to hire a Psychologist commencing A ugust 12 , 2024. Position Summary The Psychologist position at FFCA is part of the inclusion team based out of central office. This multi-disciplinary team works collaboratively with staff in each campus to ensure students have the universal, targeted and specialized supports required to engage at their fullest potential with FFCA's whole group instructional approach.In this role, you will provide evidence-informed supports and conduct assessments as needed in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. Reporting to the Coordinator of Inclusion, you will work with students as a direct service provider and with educational staff as a consultant and educator. Responsibilities ScreeningIdentifies needs of students via:Consultation and collaboration with school personnel and/or parents/guardians.Classroom observation of students.Gathering pertinent information from other disciplines.AssessmentAssesses cognitive functioning, academic achievement, social/emotional functioning, personality, self-esteem and adaptive behaviour by conducting observations, interviews, psycho-educational diagnostic instruments, and using other appropriate methods.Interprets results of assessments to school personnel and parents/guardians.Prepares written assessment reports for the Student Record and for relevant community professionals on request.DiagnosisDetermines, if applicable, mental health conditions or disorders via analysis and interpretation of assessment information.Makes intervention, programming, or other recommendations to address student needs.Integrates relevant psychoeducational information into student support plans.Prepares written summaries and other documentation as required.ConsultationConsults with school and campus personnel, parents/guardians and community professionals and agencies.Acts as a liaison between school and campus personnel, parents/guardians and community agencies.InterventionProvides, evaluates and documents direct services to students, teachers, and parents/guardians.StudentsLearning and behavioural strategies assistanceStudy and organizational skillsBrief counselling and referral for long-term counsellingPeer mediation and peer support programsConflict resolution groupsSocial skills groups (e.g., peer relations, bullying)Anger management groupsMentorship programsTeachersDevelopment of learning, behavioural and social/emotional strategies and supports.Identification and implementation of student accommodations.Development of classroom support plans.Parents/GuardiansDevelopment of learning, behavioural and social/emotional strategiesParent/guardian education (e.g. Parent/guardian Effectiveness Training)Brief counselling and referral for long-term counsellingSupervisionProvides clinical supervision for family school liaison counsellors and youth development counsellors.Provides training and supervision of graduate practicum students and Provisional Psychologists.Staff DevelopmentProvides workshops and/or presentations within the FFCA community as required.Provides resource material to support and staff professional learning.Liaises with the Calgary Charter Critical Incident Response Team.Develops and maintains a high level of knowledge and awareness of the current theory and practice related to meeting the learning and behaviour needs of exceptional learners.Works collaboratively with other Student S
